Checkers to Join Garrett Square, Spring 2014

CenterMark Development LLC is pleased to announce that Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. will join Garrett Square as the third phase of the redevelopment of the former Tops Grocery site at 11905 Superior Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.  The restaurant is expected to open in the Spring of 2014.

The center, which is located in the historic Forest Hills/Glenville neighborhood adjacent to University Circle, is anchored by Save-A-Lot and Forman Mills Clothing Outlet — the retailer’s first location in Ohio.  Advance Auto Parts joined the tenant roster as a second phase.

“Thanks to our noteworthy value-oriented anchor tenants, customer traffic to Garrett Square has been robust and this traffic has sparked significant interest from national retailers,” said CenterMark’s President, Mark J. Jablonski.  “A quality restaurant like Checkers has been sought after by the residents and business owners for some time,” he added.

Checkers Drive-In Restaurants is the #1 operator of double drive-through fast-food restaurants. Operating under the names Checkers and Rally’s Hamburgers, the restaurants offer a limited menu of burgers, fries, and hotdogs, along with beverages and shakes. The mostly franchised quick-service eateries are typically decorated with checkered flags and racing theme exteriors and offers patio seating/dining areas. The company is controlled by private equity firm Wellspring Capital.
